A Little Balance Might Just Be The Key

A Little Balance Might Just Be The Key

Feb 05, 2024

So, I had this moment in my ADHD program recently that I just have to share with you.

A client of mine, mid-session, blurts out:

“My nutritionist wants me to start practicing stability exercises?”

Yep, that's a real quote, and I bet it's got you wondering...

Why on earth is a nutritionist talking about stability exercises, especially in the context of ADHD?

Let me fill you in on a little secret that's not so secret anymore: the connection between our physical balance and ADHD is way more important than we might have thought.

The latest research links the cerebellum—that part of our brain that's all about coordination and balance—to ADHD. It turns out, that getting a bit more stability and balance in our lives can actually soothe some of those symptoms, like overwhelm and indecision, we wrestle with daily.

This is because these kinds of exercises wake up the cerebellum, giving it the nudge it often needs in those of us with ADHD.

So, you’re probably thinking:

"Okay, but why is this advice in a nutrition program?"

Great question!

This is the deal: My approach to ADHD is all about the big picture.

Sure, food is a massive piece of the brain health puzzle (and don't worry, we cover that in depth), but pairing our food choices with the right kind of physical activity? That's where the magic happens.

Inside my program, we get right into how the body and mind work together, hand in hand. We talk about how daily stability exercises are an essential piece of the puzzle.

They are part of a comprehensive approach - balancing blood sugar and improving gut health through informed nutrition choices, staying well-hydrated, incorporating regular movement, and prioritizing quality sleep—that collectively support healthy emotion regulation and cognitive function.

And it's not just about what's on your plate or your yoga mat.

We explore how to prep quick & easy meals that boost cognitive function, exercises that sharpen focus and coordination, and habits that support emotional regulation.

This approach gives you a toolbox brimming with strategies, not just for the kitchen, but for managing your very busy schedule.

This ADHD program isn't just about tweaking your diet; it's about transforming your life, embracing every tool we've got to make living with ADHD a bit less chaotic, a little smoother, and figuring out what's for dinner, a little bit easier.

If this sounds like the kind of journey you or a loved one could use, I'm here to chat.

Got questions about the program? Curious about how it all works?
